Discover mint
Fresh and instantly recognisable, mint owes its characteristic fragrance to menthol. Its name is associated with the myth of the nymph Minthe.
A refreshing mojito
Ingredients: 4 cl white rum, 3 cl lime juice, about 14 mint leaves, white cane sugar to taste, ice and soda water. Gently muddle the mint with lime and sugar without crushing the leaves excessively. Add rum and ice, top up with soda and garnish with mint and lime. For an alcohol-free version, leave out the rum.
In the kitchen
Mint brings freshness to drinks, desserts, vegetables, pulses and grains. Try it in cold pasta or rice salads, with cucumber, tomatoes and mozzarella, or alongside chocolate.
Growing and practical tips
Grow mint in pots or soil, refreshing the soil with organic matter approximately every two years. Protect it from severe frost and heavy rain.
